thanks zhoo... here is a pretty good explanation on the process written by another photographer I've worked with. Our workflows are very similar. Instead of repeating the info, he has it all laid out very well here

ryc: in the case of a sleeping jaguar (like the one i took the picture of) and there are no eyes or nose to focus on (hard to see for whatever reason), where else would you consider a focal point?
