more automotive

Over the holiday I had an opportunity to shoot some of wa's friends' vehicles.  Not just any vehicles either, a Porsche GT3 previously owned by Paul Walker, a Bentley Continental, and a big Yamaha Raider.  Actually there were 3 more bikes in the garage including a beautiful Ducati Sport 1000 but I just didnt have enough time.  I was shooting for 4 hours straight trying to get all the vehicles and details and experimented with bouncing foam core to light the vehicles.  Overall it was more difficult than I thought, but here is what I came up with.

Automotive image build up

An image I've been meaning to create for a long, long time.  It's definitely not perfect but I am still pretty happy with it considering it is the first one I've made.  Over a year ago I built my first auto rig to capture motion shots and was never able to get it to work properly.  I finally dug it out again this weekend, dusted off the cobwebs and gave it another go.

This is a compilation of 3 different images (see below).  A static shot of the headlight, and a static interior shot lit by a gelled 580 EXII, and finally a motion shot were blended together.  The shot is really tight simply because I didnt have a wider lens than my 35mm, for my next try at this I will definitely be using a wider lens (and hopefully nicer car).  The shots were merged in PS and the rig was cloned out.

Finally a shot of the rig.

One year ago today...

...we had a priest that hit on my wife, and the worst DJ in the history of wedding receptions, but I still married the light of my life.  Happy Anniversary babe.
